Failure Giant

You may remember a few posts last year about a show called Human Giant. At the time, it was the funniest sketch comedy show I had seen in a long time. Not only did I watch every episode last year, I watched it over and over again.

I don’t know what the hell happened between last season and this one, but I can only imagine that the writers of Human Giant underwent something roughly akin to a frontal lobotomy. Or…maybe…the old writers left during the writer’s strike, and they’ve been replaced with carpet samples and tacks. I can think of nothing else to explain why such a wonderfully funny show has turned into such a steaming pile of fail.

They came out of the gate with a couple good sketches, shared with their fans on the internet in advance of the premiere. I have to admit, the Will Arnett one alone made me confident they would return on top of their game. Unfortunately, with each successive episode, the laughs have dried up more and more, until last night’s episode came and went with barely a smile on my face.

If the show hadn’t produced a near-perfect season of television last year, I wouldn’t be so mad. But to go from such heights of genius to such depths of retardation is something I can’t fathom. If you’ve never seen Human Giant, I highly recommend you watch the first season. Then watch the Will Arnett sketch above. Just do me a favor. Don’t watch this season. Don’t go through the same pain I did. Believe me. You don’t want to go through that.

    @rami
    Yup, looks like they did. My wife and I can’t understand why the actors don’t realize the show they’re now doing is shit. It makes no sense to go from such genius to total crap.

    @wen
    Just be sure not to watch this season! It’s baaaaad.
    But the first season is genius.
