I’ve spent much of the last two days playing a game that most Xbox fanboys tore through many moons ago, namely Bioshock. I can’t believe it took me this long to get around to it, frankly. I totally expected it to be good. I just didn’t expect it to be this good.

It’s fun, deep, atmospheric and immersive. If there are any other adjectives that one would use to describe a stellar game, consider them likewise applied. It’s all of those things you want a game to be, wrapped up into one beautiful package. The graphics are amazing, the sound excellent and the gameplay is near-perfect.

This is a game that screams to be played in the dark, with the surround sound cranked up. Because, in addition to everything else I’ve said about it, the game has moments that will make you shit yourself and jump out of your seat at the same time. While that may not seem like a good thing, you won’t notice. You’ll be too busy playing the game to care. Which is why I play it in an adult diaper. Saves on clean-up afterward.

If you’ve got a 360 or Gaming PC, I couldn’t more highly recommend this game. It won’t disappoint you. If I were a guy who rated things, I’d rate it an A. If I were a guy who didn’t rate things, I’d have left out that last line.

I never played the original Alone in the Dark game, but I’ve certainly read how much it’s revered among the gaming geeks of the world. And as much as they revere that game, they detest the sequels. Well, I don’t know a thing about the games, but I’d lay good odds that this game will not disappoint the fans of the original. Creepy, atmospheric and exciting, this trailer is everything I want to see in a video game. I may have to wait a long time for Silent Hill’s next outing, but this baby looks even better and I only have to wait until May to buy it. I can’t wait.

And, for the record, I know full well how much of a nerd I am. Big deal. At least I’ve got my good looks.

Here I was, thinking that Mass Effect wouldn’t be getting expansions. Actually, I wasn’t thinking that. I hadn’t even considered it. But here it comes, all the same. Bring Down the Sky is an upcoming expansion for Mass Effect that is supposed to pack in about 90+ minutes of fun. For the pretty reasonable price of 400 MS points, no less. If this interests you (and dear god, how could it not?), you can get it on XBLM March 10th. It supposedly is the first of many expansions (or downloadable content offerings) to come. To which I say this; I heart you, Bioware.
