Bitter? I’ll Show You Bitter….

I have an idea for the candidates, specifically McCain and Clinton. It’s an odd idea, but hear me out. Here it goes: Instead of pouncing on every verbal faux pas your opponents make, TALK ABOUT YOUR FUCKING ISSUES LIKE INTELLIGENT HUMAN FUCKING BEINGS!

Jesus Christ on a fucking pogo-stick am I pissed. I can’t turn on the radio or browse my web news without seeing a story about McCain or Clinton bashing Obama for some comment or another that isn’t nearly as bad as they’re making it out to be. How original. If all they can do is insult their opponent’s minor verbal mistakes, they’re fucking morons. They want to attack their opponent on issues? They want to attack them on their past voting records or questionable practices? I have no problem with that. But all you’re doing by insulting your opponents verbal mistakes is further degrading the political process. Unfortunately, most of the voters in this country are stupid enough to eat up whatever bullshit these charlatans throw at their feet. I can’t take it. I really can’t. Our country is on an out-of-control Freight Train, and there’s no Superman to stop it before it goes over the fucking rails and into an abyss that leads straight to hell.

I can semi-understand the actions of a Republican against his oppostion, but when a fellow party (wo)man starts all that jive talking, that just shows a pathetic desperation of character. She’s certainly blown her chance of being Obama’s VP that’s for sure.

Both parties have had success running local, Congressional and Senate candidates on a non-platform. What I mean by that is that they have found in smaller elections that they can win without talking about issues, which has come to be viewed as a risky tactic, and one that is far beneath an incumbent to engage in.

The rationale is that by talking about issues, voters might identify things about the candidate about which they disagree. On top of that, voter turnout tends to be so low for these smaller elections that candidates can and often do win based solely on charisma and party affiliation.

The mistake they are both making is in assuming that this strategy will work in a presidential election, and since none of the candidates really seem to be interested in talking about the issues, none of them are really being hurt by this fact, at least not yet.

Sure, Obama has hit a rough patch. True, he could have avoided it by talking about issues instead of Rev. Wright and the ‘bitter clingers’. Nonetheless, neither McCain or Clinton appears eager to capitalize on his blunders by discussing the issues while he’s busy doing damage-control. How this will play out between now and November, I have no clue. I just hope that the context of the discussion and talking points are taken more seriously by everyone involved as the election nears.

This is the first time since I turned 18 that I have been undecided in a presidential election, so I’m particularly eager to hear something — anything from any of these candidates that is in any way related to the decisions facing America’s next president.
